From clear, crisp and sunny Queenstown, welcome to our third newsletter. Thanks for your support during summer and autumn – we hope you had a busy few months too. We covered thousands of kilometres, extensively explored the South Island and hosted a diverse range of travellers. Locally, we showcased the highlights of the Wakatipu Basin. We're now in winter mode, with Coronet Peak open for skiing. Sitting 310 metres above sea level, Queenstown in winter is a majestic destination. With clear blue skies and surrounded by snow capped mountains, average daily temperatures in the resort range from 1-10°C (34–50°F). 2007 NZ Golf Open - New Zealand Golf has awarded the rights to host the event this November, and for the following 2 years, to Queestown's The Hills course. Located near Arrowtown, The Hills is a private golf course owned by long time local, Michael Hill - 'Jeweller'. Visitors - Tourism New Zealand’s Regional Visitor Monitor shows Queenstown has well and truly established itself globally as a four season lake and alpine destination. Seasonality is not the issue it once was. Young travellers mostly visit in autumn and spring and summer is popular for older travellers. Winter is popular with over 35's, families and youth. Take Flight - Air New Zealand has scheduled seven extra direct services for the season and QANTAS lays on another four, beginning in late June. Queenstown International Airport’s upgrade is almost complete; the final touch will be a 4 metre high steel sculpture of a Maori welcoming party by local sculpture Mark Hill - installment is expected in 6 months. A Queenstown resident who’s been involved in tourism since 1970, Trevor is a powerhouse of knowledge on all things ‘New Zealand’. History, geography, the political landscape, as well as world wide issues - his enquiring mind covers them all. Trevor’s favourite trip is around the West Coast because “the scenery is just spectacular” and he highly recommends the Lake Marion walk on the way to Milford Sound. ![]() Meet & Greet - Whether at the airport, local accommodation, or downtown, we’re on hand to meet your clients during their stay in Queenstown. Talk to us about handing over documents, assistance with rental car collection or recommendations for local attractions or restaurants. Return Dinner Transfers - As Queenstown’s climate gets cooler and the days shorter, demand increases for return dinner transfers. There are over 150 eateries and bars to choose from in the area. A firm favourite with clients is Amisfield, pictured below. ![]() Art & Wine Trail - Queenstown in winter is lively and spectacular. The clear blue skies and wonderful light inspires local artists like Thomas Brown, who regularly features on our Art & Wine Trail. The trail visits local artists in their studios and explores award-winning vineyards, fresh from their recent harvest.
